Back in the Saddle Again

Its confounding to think about the passing of time.  I started this blog back in 2009, initially as a place where I could mostly share what I thought were some screamingly funny travel anecdotes (no judgement, please!) Gradually, I added reviews, music, videos and other accoutrements to fill out the set list, as it were.  And then…I took a job – a real, honest-to-goodness, 40+ hr/week job, and essentially, stowed my battered orange suitcase up in the attic, occasionally bringing it down and unpacking a review or a musing or two.

And now, here we are, halfway-through 2017, and I’m feeling the stirrings of that suitcase just as surely as the stories I’ve collected in the last six or so years have been rattling around in my head.  In this lapse of time, I have:

  • sent Cooper, beloved son, off to college, thereby slipping into that sad segment of “Empty Nesters”;
  • packed up our beloved home in LA, along with our two aging dogs, and set off with husband Stu to live (again) in Sydney, where we Goldilocks-ed our way through three different homes before finding the home of our dreams, only to have to leave it after just nine months;
  • traveled a lot, racking up anecdotes and my ever popular and supremely embarrassing “don’t do what I did” travel experiences like frequent flyer miles;
  • lived through a home invasion while living in Bondi Beach (story to come);
  • put down both dogs while in Australia;
  • got a Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy whom we named Lulu, without any clue that almost ten months later, we’d be moving again to…;
  • Paris!  Yes – moved to Paris, where we have been for nearly one year already, and where I am constantly putting my pied dans ma bouche, as I feel my ex-pat way through;

So – lots to talk about.  Some funny yet also some difficult stories – change can be a bitch; change, while “going thru the change” – well – that’s a whole ‘otha Oprah, as they say, but at the risk of TMI, you can count on some of those tales, too!  Lots of new material, which I am determined to share with candor and a fair amount of self-effacingness (not a word, but couldn’t think of the noun), some great new travel recommendations and more. At least, that’s the idea.  I hope you’ll stick around.  À bientôt!
